Description
History
Originally built by Brooke Marine in 1930, Brioni is a genuine pre-war gentleman’s motor launch that has benefitted from a comprehensive refit by Pendennis Shipyard in 2017.
She retains the character and proportions expected of a classic timber launch, while offering a level of usability that allows for regular cruising rather than occasional display. The refit has ensured structural integrity and longevity, making her a practical ownership proposition without compromising authenticity.
Power and Capability
Powered by twin Yanmar 4JH3-TE diesel engines on shaft drive, Brioni provides dependable low-speed handling and ease of manoeuvring, particularly in close quarters. The twin engine configuration offers both control and reassurance, which is not always found in vessels of this era.
The cockpit is the defining feature of the boat. Deep, protected, and fully enclosed by a stainless-framed canopy, it offers generous seating along both sides, complemented by loose teak chairs and a central infill that creates a flexible social space. This is a layout designed for relaxed cruising and entertaining with the added benefit of full weather protection.
Accomodation
Below deck, the accommodation is simple and functional, retaining the traditional charm of a true gentleman’s motor launch with a forward V-berth, light interior, and compact galley facilities. It is well suited to occasional overnight use, in keeping with the boat’s intended purpose.
Brioni presents as an beautiful, honest and usable classic launch with genuine provenance, combining heritage with practical usability with world class maintenance records.

This is not a reproduction or a modern interpretation, Brioni is a genuine 1930 Brooke Marine hull and that distinction is immediately apparent when you step aboard.
What sets her apart is the quality of the 2017 Pendennis refit. It has not attempted to over-modernise the boat but instead ensures that she remains structurally sound and genuinely usable, rather than something that needs constant attention or careful handling. Care and attention have been paid to retaining her heritage and she has been empathetically restored to an impeccable standard.
The twin Yanmar installation is a significant advantage. It transforms the handling of the boat, particularly in confined spaces and provides a level of confidence that is often missing from single-engine classics.
The cockpit is where the boat really comes into its own. It is deep, comfortable and properly protected, making it a space that can be used in a wide range of conditions. This is not a boat that only works on perfect summer days, it is set up to be used regularly and handle all conditions.
The interior is deliberately simple and in keeping with the nature of the boat. It provides what is needed without unnecessary complication and supports the overall purpose of the vessel.
For a buyer looking for a classic launch with genuine history, professional refit pedigree and the ability to be used and enjoyed without compromise, Brioni represents a well-balanced and credible option.
