Bona Ventura is a charming 40’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2005 by Middlewich Narrowboats, and fitted out by the previous owner.
She benefits from a survey in September 2022, blacking and 4 new anodes in April 2024, and an engine service in spring 2025.
The cratch covered well deck is 3’2”, and whilst compact, this still has room for a table and chairs if al fresco dining is for you!
Steps lead down into the 8’7” saloon, with a large L-shaped sofa, Aarrow multi fuel stove, 21” Samsung TV, and access to storage under the well deck. This sofa could easily sleep one comfortable, or be swapped out for a sofa bed if required.
Next is the 5’7” galley, with granite worktops, stainless steel sink, Thetford oven & grill, 2 burner gas hob, microwave, 12v LG caravan fridge, and a range of cupboards and shelves for storage.
The 4’6” off-corridor bathroom follows, with a square shower tray (curtain across), ceramic wash basin, and Sanimarin ceramic bowl pump out toilet.
Heading aft, the bedroom is 5’10” with a 5’5” x 3’2” berth. The bed frame itself is 5’10” x 3’5”, and could easily be modified into a large cross bed double, with a small amount of woodwork. A diesel fired hot air blower sits under the bed, and for a boat this size will easily keep you toasty in winter.
Steps lead out onto the 4’5” semi-trad deck, with the Barrus Shire 30hp engine housed below. A couple of lockers, with cushioned seating, provides additional outside space for crew, and a tonneau cover keeps the deck protected from the elements.
12v power is supplied by 2x 110ah domestics, with a separate starter, all replaced in January 2026. 240v power is via a landline only.
Lighting on board is halogen throughout.
Hot water is supplied by the engine and a diesel heater.
She really is a cute little boat, and would be ideal for weekends away and extended cruising. With a few upgrades she could even make a lovely floating home.
